About
Far Out Theatre… in your face since 2005
We describe Far Out Theatre as DIY Theatre; we’re not an Am-Dram group but we’re not a Community Group either. We are made up of people from all walks of life. Some with professional theatrical training and some who will be treading the boards for the very first time. We are Civil Servants, Graduates, Bar Tenders, Make-Up Artists, Teachers, Personal Assistants, Housewives, Students and Retirees. Between us we DO-IT-OURSELVES. We write our own stories, we design the set, the costumes, the wigs, the make-up. We direct. We build. We make. We perform. Most of all, we enjoy the pandemonium that ensues and the joy our shows bring to the audience.
Far Out Theatre was founded in June 2005 after being approached by a local village hall to perform a family-friendly pantomime. We performed at this venue until 2012 when we decided to expand and perform in other venues. This meant taking a big risk, but it certainly paid off.
We continued with our family-friendly shows until 2015 when we performed Rita, Sue and Bob Too!, a play, written by a Yorkshire lass, that inspired the much-loved film of the same name. It was a sell-out and an absolute smash. We realised that we had found our niche; adult themed shows. We can’t help it! We are a lively, provocative bunch and being rude and saucy comes easily to us. We had toyed with the idea of an Adult Panto for a few years but didn’t know how well received it would be.
In December 2016 we took the plunge and performed Aladdin the Rude Panto. It was a rip-roaring success and we knew that we didn’t want to go back to the family-friendly shows of the past.
Our next production, YeeHaw! is a fairytale about the Wild West. As usual we have flipped the script and created a unique, eye-popping pantomime that we know our audiences will love.
Our tour will commence in November and we can’t wait to see you there!
Love Victoria, Rachael, Steve and Maia
